Wanted to inform all p7805u and other FX series owners that the new 196.34 have been tested by me and are giving me a new level of performance. I am getting 4-5 more fps in CoD MW2 and Fallout 3 (games I have tested out so far) over the 186.18, my previous best drivers. I am also experiencing much lower temps, ranging around 80 degrees at maximum against the 90-95 temperatures I was reaching after only half an hour of play. I just played for an hour and a half and the temps were stable and under 80 degrees for CoD MW2.

Hope this helps people unsure if to update the drivers or not.
Btw the site where I got my drivers is: www.laptopvideo2go.com
    Enjoy ;)

Thanks for the info, but are you sure it has nothing do to with your control panel settings? Do you use application settings or do you override them with custom settings? as this would also make a difference is fps.

You know 80 deg is still very hot for this notebook right?

The control panel settings are identical to the ones I used in the previous version, while I found out that the temperatures were kept down because Powermizer was on. Even with powermizer on the fps was superior, and that's impressive.

Yes, but I can live with it as long as it's not 90 and up.

Yeah, these are great drivers. My temps went down 14C! From 96 to 82 when playing Mass Effect 1 . I used DOX 185.85 before, which were great drivers but these seem to be much better. I have more smoother gameplay and increased FPS when playing Mass Effect. I recommend!

Glad they are working great for you as well. I wanted to add on to my OP that I was getting some driver crashes on my Desktop and when browsing the internet with Firefox. I found out that this was happening when powermizer would switch to throttle mode and the voltage would drop to .9V. I fixed this by modifying the GPU bios to run 3d extra mode, 3d, 2d and throttle at a fixed .99V. I also set the 3d extra mode clocks to 720/900/1800 to eliminate the need for the Nvidia performance service (to overclock). Temps are @ 47 degrees idle (right now as I am typing this post), and after playing Cod Mw2 again for a half hour, my temps were @ 79 degrees Celcius.

How do you get these drivers to run? I'm assuming that they're desktop drivers, but it looks like you're running a 9800m GTS (and I'm running a 9600m GS), and I get this error when trying to run the setup of the driver I downloaded from your link in the OP:

you have to use the modded inf provided on the site, when you go to download the 196.34 drivers there is a link to download the drivers and another below to download the modded .inf. Download it and replace the original .inf with the modded one and voila', you won't get the error anymore.

nevermind, found it. thanks for the tip. i installed it and everything seems to work faster.. for some reason my windows experience went from 6.8 to 6.7 for graphics though ><. is there a way to make my screen brighter via driver? i have it already at the brightest and would love one more notch on the 7805u.

Also, how do I OC on this driver? I cant seem to open the same nvidia control panel with this driver.

Edit: I can no long open Nvidia performance. There are now 3 entries under nvidia in my program files and only some of them work. Weird file naming too like nvidia nv6987 etc.

you'll have to reinstall nvidia performance when installing new drivers like these, then the performance tab should appear again for you
Personally I use Nbitor to overclock through bios setting, it's more effective

these drivers do seem to be a little better then my previous drivers and im glad that going into standby works just fine. no issues at all with setting like digital vibrance and the like. doesnt really seem like i get higher fps but it aint lower either and the fact that everything work fine is a keeper for me. temp on my laptop pretty low too with the gpu idle at 41c and max load temp of 68c

For me the nvidia ntune 6.05 works just fine with these drivers. But i made a clean windows install (formated before) and then added these graphics drivers and then nTune. And i can OC just fine.

Well i guess one driver isn't for All games... I found that Dox 185.85 were good in COD, but not that good in Crysis etc. Havent tryed these drievrs with those games yet.

Bleh, trying these out gave me the blue screen of death every time I booted. I reverted back to the old 186.61 drivers.

Not sure what's up with that, my Windows install seems to be a bit unstable.
