I am thinking about doing a Blu-Ray upgrade on my P7811 and would really appreciate some input on the following questions.

Has anyone on this forum successfully upgraded their P7811 to Blu-Ray yet?

Did you get the results you expected ?

Which SATA drive did you use and what software?

Were there any problems with the installation or did it go smoothly?

here is a thread on someone that successfully upgraded to blu-ray using a blu-ray drive from an HP dv7t.

you could also check newegg.com for a sony optiarc 5500-S SATA blu-ray drive.

    6860 and 6831 owners would want a 5500-A PATA blu-ray drive.

Thanks, The thread does look promising. When I read it, It looked like the installation was made but not yet tested. Also, Newegg no longer carries the Optiarc 5500-S SATA drive. Of the 2 reviews of this drive, one identified a problem with the firmware. I did notice that the drive is available on ebay and at a few stores on the web.

In looking deeper into the thread, I see that the setup with the Optiarc 5500-S was successful with the recommended software. Thanks again for your help! I should be all set now!

CT10N is alot cheaper because faster cheaper BD-Rom (4x and up) and burners have come to the market, even the Sony drive which use to be very expensive has dropped like a rock in price. I'm kinda starting to wonder if you work for Faze.
