Does anyone know if there is any difference in the AOU and LG panel on the 7805u?

    My 7805u has an AUO 1900 x 1200 panel.

control panel > device manager > monitor (open the tree) > click monitor > go to hardware id (drop down list at the top)

The first two to three character would tell you whether you have an AOU or LG panel.

BTW, do you have an AOU or LG panel?

I don't believe it applies to laptops, due to the normal 14 day policy vs the 30 day policy for most items.

I think AUO is AUO :D A big Chinese LCD panel manufacturer.

My 7811 also has an AUO panel. Has anyone noticed a difference between different panel types?

    SEC should be Samsung.

Now I wonder if there is anyone that has both P-7811fx/AUO and P-7805u/LG that can help us compare...

I just picked up a 7805u and haven't opened it yet so I don't know what display it has. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it yet...My 6864FX has an AUO8174 (15.4").

Is LG better than AUO? Any quality difference between the two? I did get a chance to look at the screen before leaving the store I bought the 7805u from and it looked absolutely awesome. I checked it very carefully for any dead or stuck pixels and any other defects and found none. It really is a great display. I wish I read this thread before I went to Best Buy, I could have checked that too! Oh well....

Apparently LG makes better panel than AUO, I learned that after owning couple of the Dell that have LG panel in them...

Here is another LG vs. AUO LCD panel discussion in the Dell forum

My first post here, and after lurking these thread upon being a SlickDealer....and after being armed with the awesome info from this site I am now a proud owner of a P7805!

What I haven't seen asked if whether or not the device build date (mine is 111708 on the box, but the laptop says 111808) does the build date dictate whether or not you get an LG panel OR an AUO?

For instance with the above dates my panel is a dead pixel free light bleed free LG....

I have an AUO..it sounds like LG is better, it sucks that happened, though I doubt there is too much of a difference.

I had the 7811/AUO but it has been gone for some time. Its purely subjective and I am very picky about displays but I could never get the display on the 7811 to my liking as far as color, contrast and brightness. It was adequate but others may think it looked great.

With the 7805/LG I spent a couple of minutes with Calibrize and was extremely pleased with the results. Still not the greatest for color but about as good as a TN panel is going to get. The AUO panels in the 7805 may be improved over what I experienced with the 7811 and I hope they are but there is no way I will give up my LG panel if I can help it. :)

I'm looking for a method of telling which screen is in the machine without opening the box. If you could, please post your batch number and manufacture date along with which screen you have. I'm recording these to see if there's a pattern.

    Thanks.

I finally decided to open it up just to check what screen it has and its an AUO screen. The batch number is H358631 and the date of manufacure is not listed on box anywhere.
