I searched the forums and couldn't find a direct answer to this, but I apologize in advance if I missed past relevant information.![]()
Back to the main question, has anyone put a t5750 (2.0ghz) into a stock 6831FX to replace the t5450 (1.66ghz)? I know there are no compatability problems, I just wonder if it is a worthwhile upgrade. I'm hesitant to drop 200 plus dollars on a faster CPU since this laptop is getting old, but with the 5750 selling for around 80 dollars I figure it is worth a shot.
I've had my laptop since last January, and with the warranty running out I feel comfortable making a few changes.
Thank you in advance for opinions/help!

I would definitely try it. Other than that, theres the t5850, but thats only an extra 160mhz to your 2000. But, I would definitely try the upgrade. The processor is appropriate for your socket type, P, along with the same FSB and series t(5)......

It'll probably get you another year out of your machine -
like Kamin said, spend another $50 or so and get a much better CPU that will run cooler.

I'm assuming this is ebay pricing, correct? I'll definitely keep looking, I just haven't found any for less then 2x the cost of a 5750 yet.
No huge deal either way, the 1.66 plugs along better then I expected.
Thanks for the quick replies and help, btw.

If you were getting it free or close to I'd do it. Like said before though there are other better options if you're in the market.

The T5550 is not worth much either - I got $40 shipped for mine.
Might as well make the upgrade count. -
I do think there will be a 800 MHz FSB 25 watt TDP value CPU in the 2-2.5 range very soon.
