I wanna use mini PCI-e SSD on my P7811-fx and if we can do that can we use two slots for those type of SSD? Then We can make raid 0 may be with them? Then the other two slots are only for storage. It would be one hell of a machine :)

Most (well technically all that i know about) of the mini PCI SSD's use the horrible jmicron controllers. I have one in my 6860 that i use because while the controler sucks it is a nice way to store information that you dont have to worry about. It will read pretty snappy its just worthless for everything else.

I havent tried taking out my wireless and trying another one to RAID, but i'm assuming that we have no capability to raid our PCI slot. The only thing that can handle a RAID array on the gateways is the SATA 2 slots. (plus you'd be giving up your wireless)

Thanks for that information. All of the Mini-PCI-e SSDs have that Jmicron chip? If like that that's bad. I'm thinking of using Intel 5300 half size mini-pci-e then full size mini-pci-e will have the ssd. System will be on it and the other drives will be storage. If it's all J-micron then I have to stay with my config :)

The netbook type mini pci-e SSDs don't work in notebooks since notebooks don't have a sata controller linked to the mini pci-e transmit/receive pins.

Samsung are introducing a product with a SATA controller on board later this year shown here. It's questionable how well the system can integrate it's sata controller. For instance, it might require a special driver and may not be bootable.

If you need a SSD+HDD setup, consider using an optical bay caddy as in my sig.

Kamin says he used it in a notebook? Is that right or not? I think controller is embedded on the SSD according to which type is used? Some of them PATA, some of them SATA?

The netbook type SSDS are using the chipset SATA/PATA controller and wiring it up to the mini-pcie slot. On a notebook that would imply there are wires running from the ICH7/8/9M southbridge to the mini pci-e slot. I haven't see a notebook that does that yet. Though not to say that the 6860 may have some unique features about it. Makes you wonder how Intel did their Turbo memory.

It's for netbooks, says so in the product description. No mention of notebooks other than comparing it to notebook harddrives.
