Wow, looks epic! I don't have time to read it right now but nice work. I will +rep the guide upon reading. Thanks @X2P.

You have an irritating way of criticizing/disrespecting material offered in response to your inquiries. Just doing you a favor, maybe you don't care.

Not a specific response to the question....but you shouldn't have to buy a cooler for the 7811 if it was engineered by Gateway correctly...unless you are overclocking or working in the desert where temps are 145 degrees. Thats like buying a new BMW and taking it to your local mechanic and asking for an additional radiator because it's overheating. Just my thoughts.

I'm dealing with the same problems on the new FX 7811 I bought for my son. Best Buy just swapped out another 7811 that was locking up while playing Call of Duty. A brand new computer shouldn't be sold for gaming if it does this. The floor model at Best Buy did the same thing. The return clerk said he has a 7811 and seven other guys at the store have it also and they aren't having the problem.

Best Buy was great and swapped it out again so hopefully this batch won't lockup. On the first one we bought the orange plastic bezel above the function keys was bowed up right out of the box...returned it no problem. The new one locked up, so swapped that one yesterday. We'll see if a different batch will make a difference. Also one of the sales guys at Best Buy who has a 7811 said they haven't had a shipment of 7811's for over a month....possibly because they were making revisions and this new one is the latest and greatest???

One would have to be pretty arrogant to consider his response disrespectful. General FAQs are great but this is a manufacturer specific forum and a model specific thread. If general faqs could answer all questions then this forum would not exist and it would be very quiet around here.

I too would be interested in someone's firsthand experience as it relates specifically to the 7811.

Good response but nobody is saying you HAVE to buy one. I don't HAVE to buy a fancy remote for my HDTV but I do. It does make my TV a piece of crap, I just happen to like fancy remotes! :)
