I saw this in Toshiba (and I imagine many of the other major brands), so I thought it would be nice to have one in Gateway for the somewhat few people who go here.
Anyways, are you satisfied with your Gateway product?
___
As for me, I am satisfied with Gateway themselves, because I can't blame the hinge issue on them when it is really Arima's problem (which has been resolved).
Aside from the hinges on my 7426, I am very happy with it.

Bought their first Pentium 60 Tower and was never been satisfied with either their tech support or their customer service ever since. Though I have given them plenty of opportunities to make up but they repeatedly failed to impress me, the only thing they did impress me was their continued and complete incompetence in customer service

I'm very happy so far with this notebook. It has performed admirably. If there is any regret at all, it was getting the "free" Canon printer in the deal with Gateway. I'm furious because of problems getting Canon to honor the rebate. That is basically an issue with Canon, however, and hopefully will be resolved.

I love my notebook, but I hate knowing Arima's base model for this supports the X700; that's all this thing is missing is solid video. The 128MB X600 is no slouch, but knowing it could've been better bothers me.

Sleek, slim, powerful, great screen and not as heavy as I9300/9400. Physically I love it, I wish Vista was out now so I could really see it shine outside of gaming.

My wife's notebook lid cracked in near the hinge.
Almost all of the new ones have some significant screen flex (when I push on the lid, it morphs the screen).
I would never buy another Gateway again; however, the latest ultraportable does intrigue me.... -
I like my CX2610 Convertible Tablet. But how I wish that Gateway can make it light so that I can carry it like a real writing pad. It is cool to behold but on the heavy side. Now that I have a 12cell batt to go with it it is even heavy as an elephant. before with the 6cell batt. it already tipped the scale at 6.84lbs., imagine what the 12cell batt. brings it to?
i wish too that Gateway would stop being a moron of making the screen compatible only to its own blend of digitizer pen which is heavy and not comfty to use for a prolonged period of time. i've seen the Wacom pens being used on the competitor tablets, i could only sigh and say how i wish my digitizer pen is like theirs. other than these issues --machine weight, and the digitizer pen, i would say I am generally satisified with my Gateway Convertible. of course i would add to my wish list that how i wish the machine be thinner, sleekier, without being expensive like the competitors'. hmmm...a platinum edition with these features would be a wow! -
It's very interesting to me when I saw this post because I personally owned a Gateway Solo 9300 that I bought 8 years ago. I don't know whether or not this poll would apply to my old Gateway lappy. I think I should share a bit of my experience with you. This guy is a fantastic machine indeed. I spent about $4300 CAD for this guy. I know that's a lotta money to invest for a latop at that time but the time had proven that every penny I spent it paid off. It's very well built with high quality plastic but it's not very portable. When I say it's not portable means you really don't want to carry this around cuz' it's very heavy. Not pleasant at all to carry. I have not had any major problems since I bought it. I did drop quite a few time and it didn't have any problem besides some damages on the edge. Thanks Gateway. I'm now still using this guy for some light tasks, and it still works fine.

I purchased a cheap $600 MX6121. And it is, CHEAP! It works, but what should I expect from $600? 1.5/512/60g/wifi/dvd/cdrw/15.4" I think it was a great deal. I wish I could have afforded a smaller more portable unit, but hey, I'm too Cheap, and this works fine.

NX860XL here. It runs great and I have no complaints.
-
been ording stuff from gateway back in 1995 when they were called gateway 2000. 2 dekstops, 3 profliers, 1 lcd tv and 3 notebooks. No complaints, had a hard drive failed but 20 mins on the phone 3 days later got faster bigger hard drive.

Well this guy was definitely not satisfied: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=66311

Ok seriously, gateway is bad.
I could tell the first time I walked into their store way back then. -
Just a follow-up on my note a few months ago re Canon rebate. After five months of letters and emails I finally received a check from Canon for the rebate promised for purchasing a printer when I bought my NX860LX from Gateway back in March. Be leary of Canon rebates. I'm convinced they were intentionally throwing stumbling blocks, doing everything they could to get me to give up...never had so much trouble collecting one.
In regard to my notebook, it's still running fine. So far after two computer purchases from Gateway, I've gotten my money's worth. -
I'm sure mine was just a lemon, but I'll never purchase one again after dealing with Dex/Arima/Gateway/Best Buy. Ugh.
-
I am also not buying GW ever again....I'm having all the "known" issues on my MX7515 and will send it for repairs soon. My issues involve:
-Poor USB2 performance with external drives (HDD,DVDRW)
-Both hinges cracked
-Screen just started flickering last week
I really can't stand that a company is still selling laptops with known issues for years. Hinges and flickering problems are well documented all around the net for long.
I am just happy I did buy the BB 3 year protection plan...at least somebody will also pay for this crap. -
After purchasing my Gateway MX3410 from Futureshop (thanks Hellmanns for the advice u gave me), I am very pleased with it so far. The build quality, is actually very good compared similarly priced notebook PCs. I'm with Hellmanns; I think that Gateway does a great job of offering top-notch components in notebooks for very competitive prices.
Also, after reading so many CONS in this poll, I'm startign to think that most of u guys bought older Gateway models. You should really take a look at Gateway's new batch of notebooks; they look a lot more sturdy and feature metal alloy-reinforced hinges.
I hear, tech support for this company is terrible, yet some people say they haven't had any problems with it. I don't know who to believe; I guess I'll know when I take mine in for a repair (hopefully I won't have to).
Are you satisfied?
