Well, i'm sure many of you have seen my complaints about my new FX...

    But if you diddn't:
So, after my laptop is under stress for a while, (max GPU was 82c) and go back to windows, when the laptop cools back down to around 60c or lower, i occasionally get very light artifacting in windows. The odd thing is, it never artifacts durring stress, only occasionally after.
I tried drivers, that diddn't help.

So, right now i'm going to re-install windows and see if that changes any thing, BUT, that being said...

Any one know why the heck this is happening? Like, what's causing it?
    Ram? -Unlikley
Bad screen connection? - Very unlikley
    Proc? - Doubt it
GPU? - I have a hard time thinking this since it does not artifact durring stress
Mobo - That's really my last guess... but i don't really see why it would be the mobo...

And i also tried updating to the latest BIOS too...

So yea, ideas/why is this happening?

Thats high... my 700/925/1825 doesn't pass 74C on full GPU/CPU Stress on my 2 hour stability tests.

I only get artifacts in windows if the clock is too high. Are you absolutely sure you don't see any artifacts while you run your test? I recommend http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/ rthdribl for artifact testing. You can see the aftifacts as little red blips on your screen if it's a memory/core clock issue and random flying vertecies if its a shader clock issue.

    Graphic annomalies...
The closest thing i can describe it to...
    is like (mine specifically)
if you were to take the mouse on the desktop and drag it on a windows 95 system

Its like small strait colorful lines (liek one or 2 pixles long) and some dots poping up too...

and now that i think about it... i think they were MAYBE in the same place every time, i really can't reacal tough

    Drivers = no

GPU = unlikley, since it does not happen when stressed.

OS, i just finished reinstalling and will be running tests when i get everything set up

Hmm, you dont get recovery driver errors?? Try goingback to the factory drivers. Or if you are already since you already restored your computer, do testings and stuff stock then go from there.

    No errors.
And i first noticed in when everything was stock, then I tried other drivers and had the same issue...
So like i said, it's not drivers.

I really don't have time to test the new install tonight, but keep the ideas coming

Hmm thats strange, no overheating issues not driver related, but artifacting? Something must be wrong on your screen? Im not sure. Im thinking what it is.

if i can get it to happen again tomorrow (if not, problem solved) i'll try taking a picture... idk if it will turn out though...

It's not like 'normal' artifacting... its odd...

    Ok...
    So...
I alt tabbed out of CSS...
and i watched a youtube video...
And it began artifacting, then i got a Nvidia whatever .sys BSOD

    So....
What are my options? i want to keep the 1920x1200 screen... but... idk.....

EDIT: can i swap the video card or is it soldered on?
Any guides for swapping the screens?

Ah, jeez. I was just about to say that artifacting was the first symptom before I started getting the Nvidaa BSOD error. It unfortunately seems to be more and more common, i.e. I hear about more people having it happen to them w/ their 7805s all the time.

Even worse, there seems to be no fix. Every method I know of to fix similar errors has been tried without success on anyone's notebook.

Worse still, Gateway support is a complete joke. (Skip email and/or chat support. Go straight to phone if you want to save time, otherwise count on getting two to three weeks of the most ignorant responses imaginable, and maybe even an accusation or two, before getting a return authorization number.)

And then it gets even worse, as you get to roll the dice as to whether (a) your computer will return fixed at all, and (b) you'll get to keep your 1900X1200 screen.

Good luck. Hope you have better luck than many others - like me - have had.

    meh, i decided against it...
I'll just send it back like normal...

Either that, ir i could put it on ebay and say
"opened, briefly used if any problems arise, you ahve a 90 day warrenty from the MFG"

but idk if i'm a jerk like that :p
