I have a Gateway 7330 GZ with window XP and am trying to put an external monitor on it. I have followed the directions that are on the Gateway website and have tried pressing the FN key along with the corresponding key for switching monitors. All I can get on the external monitor is the wallpaper picture. I have all the icons windows task bar and cursor on the monitor on the laptop but not on the external one. I have tried disabling the monitor on the laptop to no avail. Can anyone help me with this.

It sounds like you are extending your desktop onto it. Try dragging a window onto it to make sure. What you need to do is clone your desktop. This will be under display options or your gfx card control panel.

    Cheers...
