I was thinking of either getting the Audigy 2 zs or the x-fi for the 6860fx.
I heard the x-fi is all software and doesn't fully support eax, and it looks ugly, but the audigy lacks the crystalizer but has hardware eax and sound. Correct me if I'm wrong, any opinions would be appreciated.

it can't be easier. Audigy 2 uses PCMCIA, which is not supported on p-6860fx. so, x-fi is your only choice.

i thought they both used the same slot? But that sucks if that's true cause the white x-fi is terrible looking and you have to purchase the srs cables seperately

they look almost the same after you plug them in, so I don't know where is "white x-fi is terrible looking" coming from.

Xfi is pointless for notebooks as it does not even have the xfi chip it in, its just a rebadged Audigy 2 so its a waist of money.

But doesnt the audigy "technically" do hardware rendering, while the x-fi doesn't, hich wouldnt really make it a rebadge, correct me if i'm wrong.

White card stickin out the side of a black notebook is ugly, and I"m tired of "ipod white"

Well if you guys want to know, actually both Audigy 2 and x-fi are mostly software rendering. For those true hardware rendering soundcards, they will cost you $499.

Our IDT 92HD71B8 hardware CODEC..does this not free the CPU from audio processing? Curious how this would relate to the old SBlaster cards to improve game performance?

I tried it on my pc, and didn't work, I'm running an x-fi elite pro and srs sandbox doesnt like it.
I think it's worth the $20 if it works as well as it does on my axim, especially if you don't want to upgrade your sound card. wow hd makes mp3's sound comparable to the x-fi's crystalizer.

SRS is included with WMP. It may not have all the switches of sandbox but the price is right?

it's not usable in gaming though, only usable with things that use wmp. That's the perk to the sandbox is that you can use it with games as well.
