Thats a guide on how to enable audio on a 7811, but i used it for my 7805 when i put XP on it, it works perfectly. Just follow the guide. There is one little thing though, before you make the .bat file, you have to go to Tools -> Folder options then go to the View Tab, then scroll down till you see "Hide extensions for Known File Types" and uncheck that box. This way when you create the .bat file, its makes it the right file type, should look like a gear. should also say MS-DOS Batch File. He left that part out of the guide.

The update was included in SP2 or SP3 so most people already have it now.

I only went to SP2 with my 7805... SP3 can only cause problems.

I have never had a single problem develop from SP3 and I have installed it on close to 200 computers.

Where did you get the idea that SP3 can only cause problems?

I heard that on the 7805, its not ment to have XP in the first place. It disables some features such as the sound and built in mic. When I tried SP3 it re-disabled my sounds after i fixed it, and it disabled my webcam. Eee atleast with 32bit XP.

You are correct it was not meant to have XP in the first place.

It doesn't 'disable' sound. I simply click a file and sound is enabled, and stays and works perfectly until shutdown (I hate Vista/7 volume control, XP is simple and perfect).

I dont use webcam so its never bothered me and I haven't tested it, the device is disabled.

If XP SP3 truly did "re-disable" your sound, it more than likely just updated/changed driver.

Probably, and yeah before i found that thread i use to just disable/re-enable the UAA bus to get sound but meh i found this way is less hassle.

I didn't have any problems (outside of the ones already reported) installing straight to SP3. My webcam mic doesn't work, and I have to run the audiostart/devcon thing (which is auto-run via the programs/start up folder) for the audio to work, but I don't think either of those things work any better with SP2?
