Well I recently got back from deployment, during which my laptop took an unfortunate dive from the top rack to the deck plate. It was an old Dell Inspiron 8100. No big deal since it was old. Now, I saw the 6860FX at best buy and knew that was the one I wanted. I found out a week before I got back from sea that the laptop was on sale for $1099 so I talked to the manager and said she would honor the sale price. Awesome! Only problem was, they only had the display model left. No biggie, was going to get the service plan anyways.
Well after the Geek Squad removed all their demo software I tried to pickup the laptop the next day. Only to find out they can't find the battery. The sales associate said I could purchase one direct from Gateway for $199.... come again? Yea... he did say that. I wasn't happy about that, so he went and spoke with a supervisor and then a manager. After about two hours of them trying to find the battery and calling Gateway to see if they could get one shipped out. They finally found out that they were going to receive a small shipment of 6860's at the end of the week. Ok awesome, so she decided to do an exchange.
So after another 30 minutes of paperwork I was all set. Got a call the other day saying the laptop was in! I picked it up this morning.. brought it home. Wonderful laptop! Everything I wanted ( minus the dual 8800's *8^) ). Then I realized after looking at the receipt they gave me... the three hundred some odd dollars I spent at the beginning of the week for the service plan wasn't on there. *sigh* so now I have to go back and figure out if this laptop is covered under the service plan I got.
All in all, because of the price I can't complain at all. The manager really tried her best to help me out. Despite the issues I had, I would buy another laptop from Best buy.

Haha, awesome.
Normally they hand you over a package of the manuals and the battery if you're buying an open box system (at least, that's how it's handled in my district), but it sounds like you ended up getting a better deal.
Glad to hear it all turned out well for you.
If you paid by credit/debit card, they'd be able to look up the purchase and receipts of exchange, so it should be fine even down the road, but to avoid any problems, call to be safe.

I went into BB today and came out within 10 minutesThe customer service rep found my service plan and said it will carry over and printed out another copy for me.

Strange.. this laptop plays call of duty 4 and quake wars so much smoother and better than my C2Duo 6600 @ 3.0 ghz /w 7950gt

Welcome home!
That was very nice that they honored the $1099 price tag, which must have felt like you stole something. If you don’t see the service plan you purchased on your sale receipt (if you paid extra for it), they will make you a duplicate copy, since it will be in the register under the receipt number it was purchased under.
