Here it is in a nutshell... I have a Gateway that the nightmare happened to with the bios update. Power got unplugged from a batteryless MD7309-u during update. It powers on, CD drive lights up the HD lights as it spins up, Flash drives light up when started, but nothing past that for hours with the occasional HD light blinking everytime the CD spins up. At this point I am just trying to salvage the laptop AT ALL, even formatted the hard disk and am trying to use it to bios flash with the files (BIOS.WPH, CRIS etc.) but no success.
Here is the list of my crimes:
Borrowed a floppy usb 3.5" floppy drive. The bios file is too large.
Bought a 256MB flash drive (that was harder to find than the floppy)
Burned a 10 pack of CD-R into new crow scaring things to hang outside over my plants.
Followed all BIOS remedies from the Phoenix posts found on this site. No luck, the key pressing thing of Fn+B, Win+B, R, T, Esc and so on has just about driven me to a point of near-death experiences where I see living people and they keep talking to me but nothing makes sense.
I am up for anything you can think of. I do not give up. If there is a shard of light I am willing to take a wrecking ball to the crack and do whateva.
    Thanks! SMG

There are many people here capable of helping you out, hang tight, at least you have your hard drive data. As far as that line above, I was rolling on the floor laughing out loud because I've done that.
