I'm kind of a newbie with Computer Tech, so I tried to update my BIOS using the one in the Gateway site. I didn't full understand the gravity of the situation. So, half way through, the application froze and closed itself. So I had to restart my laptop. When it turned on again, the screen is just black and the fan is the only thing that's working. I think it's called bricking.

So, I tried researching some stuff but I can't understand it that well.

I found this thread helpful, but it's such in disarray and it's on an Acer laptop and not Gateway. I don't understand, for example how I can identify my BIOS manufacturer now that my laptop won't turn on. Please help me. I really need my laptop at the moment and we can't afford to buy a new one.

I tried the BIOS Recovery but it still doesn't work; however, I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong. For instance the only working laptop available is a 64-bit and the usb is 4gb.

    Please help me, thank you.
