I searched for about 15 mins, and didn't find any information regarding this.

I purchased a Gateway NV54 last summer, and got my free Windows7 upgrade. I haven't installed it yet, because I want to back up my Factory Windows Vista.

    Is this possible?

I don't have a partition on the computer, where would the windows files be stored? How do I go about copying it? Can I burn an ISO image?

I don't want to pirate windows vista. I want a copy of what I'm entitled to, and paid for.

Its a Gateway NV54, running windows Vista64, SP2 has not been installed.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Forgot to include some information.

I have created my Gateway Recovery DVD. I have created my gateway Drivers and Accessories DVD.

    Is this all I need?

Are there more files that are on my computer I need to copy if I do decide to reinstall windows vista?

Is there a set of files on my computer that I should copy? Burn to ISO?

Do most manufacturers just do a partition? Are there specific files I can search for to find the ones I want to back up?

    Helppp... I wanna install W7!!

I suggest making a partition and transfer all your personal files to that folder. Then do a clean install using the Win 7 upgrade using this link (I believe there is nothing illegal with this). But make sure you know what you are doing.

    Didn't get that
'' I just want to have a COPY of windows Vista.. I paid for it, I want it.''
You mean Vista disc for reinstalling ? if thats the case you already have it in your recovery disc.
Or you mean you want Vista and Windows 7. Dual boot ?

In my humble opinion, you really don't need to back Vista up before upgrading. Just back up any data (documents, movies, mp3 etc) and let Win7 do the rest.. has worked for me every time.
