My Gateway 7805u has some backing bleeding on the bottom of the screen, Do you have any on your gateways and how bad?
I'm thinking of returning the laptop and try a different one.

How bad is bad enough to return? (I'm within the 14 day return policy)

    Thanks
    Bri

The screen will vary with backlight bleeding, but I think all of the FX series have some. I think the 7805u's have two different versions of the screen, one LG and one AUO or something. Anyway, you must have gotten the worse version, so yes, exchanging might help if you can find a good excuse - not sure if they will accept backlight bleeding, because they will say to you "well we can't take a new one out of the box to check the screen, because if it's bad and you don't want it, we'll have an open box product, and if we just let you exchange it without seeing the new one, what will you do if the new one is worse?"

Anyway, try wiping the area with a dry, clean, 100% cotton cloth or wipe, applying minimal pressure. A lot of times, the bleeding is just an air bubble that can actually be pressed out to some extent.

Yep, my 7811 has some but never notice with normal use. I would let normal use be the guide.
