    I dont belive so.

On a backlit keyboard, the letters are clear, so light can shine through. On a regular, the keys a painted white, so the lights wont shine through, even if you could find a way to insert lights into the tiny space and somehow mod a power wire to the power supply or something which could be risky...

    So, No. Sorry.

But if I get a keyboard with backlit keys I can plug into the Gateway P-7811 FX's USB port and the external keyboard will glow right?

    My Solutions
    1) Get a alienware or macbook pro
    2) buy a flashlight
    3) Master the keys, blind.

    touch typing ftw!

Come to think of it - those orange media keys are pretty darn bright. I wonder if those alone are strong enough to display the keys in a dark setting? Guess I'll check on that tonight.

hook up a small blacklight somewhere above your keyboard, the key letters are white, could look cool...

if it makes you feel any better, backlit keyboards cause a slight to moderate increase in laptop temps
