Just curious if your most of the time Plugged into wall would you leave battery in or out? Is there any benefit to not having it in pc? I would think if fully charged no charging current will go to it so it should not over charge.

Good question Cadbob- Because I use my 7805 as a desktop replacement and it is ALWAYS on AC power, I have never had my battery in the laptop except for the initial charge discharge (2 times). The number one thing that destroys batties is HEAT. Laptops get HOT. In addition, multiple full discharges (to 0%) will also hinder the batteries charge.

On a fresh battery, it is best to fully discharge to say 2% then full recharge (dont leave charging hours after it states its at 100%), then full discharge to 2% then full recharge, then discharge to 40% and leave in the fridge. Thats where mine stays ; ) Hope this helps!

Yes as Batman said some leave theirs in as backups if theres a power outage or the plug gets yanked..it all depends on your usuage..most people come and go so leaving the battery in is convienant..

On my last laptop (MSI 1039) with a 6 cell battery and a cooler I left my battery in for 2 years when it was always on ac power (at the time did not read up on heat killing these things), and when I pulled the plug after 2 years, my battery would not charge above 60% and would drain in 20 minutes..heat roasted that baby! smores anyone?

In general...in life...I have learned that HEAT breaks down and ruins just about anything...from car trannys to processors to batteries....to just about anyting that produces..heat!!

I have mine plugged in at all times. I transport mine to and from work daily. I stop a lot at coffee shops and surf the web using the battery. I just switch to power saving mode and get about 2.5 hours out of the battery. I have been doing this for about 6 months now so its held up. I have raid 0 setup and I have been able to watch a movie on the battery.
