Well, since nobody answered my question in the other thread, I don't see any other option. Will I need to have the ad for the sale in hand in order to get the discount?

Which discount? You might want to be a little more specific.

i think that's how it works. besides, they always have like 5000000 copies of their ad in front of the store. so if you need one, just pick one up as you walk in. however, i am pretty sure that you can just buy it and it will be the sale price since its probably in their computer.

Sero was saying if you had already bought the p-6831 and were getting a price check so you could get your $500 and a free game.

I doubt you would need the ad, but if they say you did you could always do like mistery kid say get it from the front of the store or buy a local newspaper

If its in their ad at that price they should already list it at 1199 + free game and you wouldn't need anything. I assumed you already bought one to price match later since each BB only has a max of 2 P6831.

I ma tempted but the LCD that comes with that model is not that great. it is ok, but compared to the much brighter and cleared 1920 LCD available and also from other makes this 1440 low NIT LCD is pretty ok at best. I could always upgrade the CPU but that LCD kills it for me. I would gladly pay an extra $350 for a real LCD

I wonder if Gateway would upgrade the LCD for people. You would have to pay them of course, but I wonder...

Kind of depends on where you live. In northern california where I live, its in stock in 5 diffrerent stores which are with 40 miles of me. If its its in stock near I would suggest not going through the price matching hassle with the Best Buy nazis.

Does anyone know if an exchange resets the 14 day price match period?

If they price match it properly it will. Meaning they have to return the original to your card and then ring it up at the new price. That will give you 3 receipts. 1 for the original purchase 2 as a return and 3 as a new purchase. If they lower the price even more or the system starts having problems you now have an additional 14 days.

Blah I will have to talk with my financial advisors (parents) I can pay for atleast half of it now so hopefully they will be willing to loan me a bit until i can pay off 3/4total, this is such a great deal and very upgradeable

Is it possible to get a raincheck since no bestbuys in my area have them?

I think the ad was thrown out too.

Because the 1.8 processor is usually used to describe single core P4s. While a dual core doesn't exactly perform at 1.67 * 2, it's certainly sufficient. Additionally, it's the graphic card that is usually the limiting factor, particularly for the games you mentioned. I can assure you that the 6831fx will run Crysis far better than a 2.5 GHz Penryn equipped laptop packing a 8400M or 8600M.

Ok find me another laptop with a 8800m (gts is fine though only gateway and hp hdx have it) 2.0ghz processor, 2-4gb ram, 250gb or 200 is fine but if it is 160gb that is too little and "is already to small", 17" etc. for sub 1500 oh wait I am talking about the p-171 fx S which is 1599 (you can barter it down) and it has 2.0ghz and identical specs while this is 1200 and you can pop in a 9300 and get 2.5ghz for a similar price only losing fingerprint reader and slot load

bought mine for $1699 on Thursday (1824 with tax). Brought in my receipt and they did a return (without the notebook) and wrote me up a new receipt so I could also get my free game. New price: 1250 with tax! Great deal. Will probably buy another for my church too.
