I'm assuming you can return it in the store if you purchased it online at Bestbuy.com since they also sell it in the store, but might want to call the store you would potentially return it at just in case.

Bought one at Best Buy this afternoon for $1699 plus tax... How sure are you about this $1199 sale? Not opening till Sunday in case I need to return it.

You have 14 days on laptop for price protection/matching. On Sunday, with your bill and the flyer, go to your BB get your 500 bucks back.

They have good service like that. But, you can't get a refund without risking 15% restocking fee.

So, use it and get back $ later. Doubt you can return it without them being a$$ about it.

I just picked on up also. It was like 1875 after NY tax. I want to open it so bad but I am scared the circular maybe fake or something like that. It is killing me! I want to rip the box open!

I opened mine up too (shiny) but then carefully put it all back in the box with no sign of it being used or opened. Me likes... Looking forward to a $500 return onto my credit card Sunday!

I'm still afraid bb will post a notice on their door saying the $1199 price was a misprint. They've done this sort of thing before. Still, more and more websites are confirming the $1199 price tag sale... If its not true, I'm just gonna get a dell XPS 1330 over there.

I opened my stuff up so slowly so I can put it back together if all goes wrong. My guess is that it will be 1199.99 though. Front page ads get looked over the most and since they are printed 2 weeks prior to the sale, I am sure everything is fine.

    $1199 shouldn't be a misprint.

From $1250 to $1200 is reasonable. Besure to ask for your free $50 game along with $500 bucks.

Does that desktop have a model number in the add, just seems odd because the FX desktop that BB has uses the Phenom not the intel quad. That add says its and core 2 quad.

It may be just a retail FX desktop that isn't shown with the regular FX line. Not sure about tha, though.

Also, I am so excited about this sale. I can't wait until Sunday!

The p6831FX comes with the nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512MB with DDR3, right? or is it just the standard nVidia GeForce 8800GTS?

???? Your question makes no sense.

Anyway the Gateway comes with the 8800M - GTS. Some other laptops come with the 8800M - GTX. Those are the only 8800s available currently.

sale is still on i think. note the flyer says on it "$150 off" and a free game. 150 dollars off of 1350= 1200. So I'm pretty much convinced its legit as well. Am going to open and play with my notebook some more!

no this will not make sense, since this is a gaming notebook, but do you think bestbuy would allow you to buy the the notebook for 1150 without a game?

Hey guys...I have never owned a Gateway PC or Laptop and was just wondering what the quality is of these machines? Are they worth it? Must I buy extended warranties? The FX PC looks really nice.
I bet though if I do go by BB, it wont be there :(

does anyone have the desktop on the ad? I'm leaning twords that for a computer because it has better performance than the laptop. I know i'm getting off topic, but i think i'm gonna get it.

$1200 price tag for Q6600 and 8800GT is definately overprice for something you MAY not able to OC properly in BIO level.

Best to make your own custom computer using better motherboard for one. Plus, if using the FX desktop as a gaming machine, its better to use E8400 OCed at 4.0~4.5ghz on AIR then Q6600.

If you are ready to buy an affordable gaming notebook, right now the best is this one. If you aren't ready, wait for the next affordable super system. It might be weeks or months before something comparably advanced is comparably priced, so choose wisely.

Even though I bought mine over two weeks ago, it's still alright. I've had fun with it. Team Fortress 2 (get the Orange Box as your free game if you haven't gotten it already) runs 1920x1080 on my widescreen at 60+ fps.

If you are new to computer modding, then I suppose FX desktop could be something good for you.

With stock setting, Q6600+8800GT works really well. Thing is, Q6600 can be OCed 40%+. 8800GT 10%+. Regardless, if the FX desktop BIO won't let you do much, then, you can't OC the CPU or memory timings.

If you have some experience putting together a computer, then I suggest a E8400 with 8800GT or GTS 512mb version only. Combine with a good MB will give you some joyful gaming events :)

I got mine with a free game today and only paid 1099.99 because I bought the display. They're cleaning it right now and I get to go back and pick it up in an hour. I'm so excited to get this thing. I got bioshock with it and the rep said it play flawlessly. I think I'm going to order a t9300 and say screw the warranty.
