I just installed the X7800 on the 6831. Works flawlessly. The dilemma now is should I overclock it. I've read stories about crazy temps. I'm running stock GPU and CPU clocks. I'm gonna 3dmark it to check performance boost.

so when you install it, do you just put the chip right in, and boot up the computer?

and that's it? just start windows right up?

yeah, booted it right up and checked everest to see the 2.6 ghz. Kind off embarrassing but I put the chip in the wrong way first time I did it and the laptop wouldn't power on so I thought it could have been a bad chip. But the X7800 should be placed in this way

It took all but 5 minutes to change the cpu. Make sure you have a #1 phillips screwdriver though. I found out i didn't have one so i had to purchase it. I wiped the old thermal compound on the heatsink with isopropyl alcohol and it came right off.

As for 3d marks I score about 8700 on a 1280 res which is not bad. Performance all around is good. Good luck with your chips when you guys get it in.

Recieved my T9300 and AS5 yesterday and installed the beauty last night. The cpu came packaged real nice but was quite funny. The cpu itself was wrapped in bounty or some other kitchen towel, then in a little box so it couldn't move around. The box was then in a envelope which in turn was in the shipping package.

Took me about half an hour from the first screw until i put the last screw back in the laptop. Unlike ranmasama i didn't have any isopropyl so i just cleaned it up and it all came off real easy. I did buy myself some compressed air and gave the laptop a nice clean. While doing this though i decided to spray my arm and burnt myself as it froze on contact, lesson learnt.

So fired up the laptop and all works fine, good bloody job. the only test i have done is the windows experience index, Was 4.5 now 5.0. The cpu went from 4.7 to 5.4 and the ram 4.5 to 5.0. The the ram is still the weak link but why did it go up anyway? i thought the T9300 wouldn't affect the ram, i'm pleased it has but would like to know why.

One more thing the temp is about 15 degrees lower than my old 5450 chip. The new cpu runs at 43 degrees now instead of 58 degrees from the old cpu.

The packaging is weird but for some reason it doesn't get damaged that way. I used the old packaging to store the cpu.

I'm curious about that wei score too since the same thing happened to me.

I have just done WEI and my RAM went from 4.5 to 5.0 after installing T9300. So whats that all about? i heard the WEI is crap but it still doesn't explain why it's gone up.
