    Hi,
I just applied IC Diamond to both the CPU and repalced the heat pad on the northbridge with it too. So far 2 hours in and 2-3c drop in the cpux and tzsx temps under prime 95 over the previous mx-2...............

I am not sure if ICD has a settling period like most thermal pastes, but that is a pretty good temp drop.

Although many thermal compound makers claim their product has "no cure time", you'll typically see the best results after 2-4 hours of burn in, followed by a cool down period.

Arctic Silver5 usually says 50-60hours of burn time, read on posts and reviews i think

Thats very true.....what my post was meant to represent with the 2-4 quote was the best results for those thermal compounds that claim zero cure time.

I went for the 24 rather than 7 as I wanted a large drop for the Northbridge. So far so good............

OCZ overtook everyone as the new thermal paste king with OCZ Freeze.

Surprising too, I remember when AS5 was the best one could get.

OCZ Freeze? How well does it do against arctic silver?
Lol i still think cermaique or whatever is the way to go on any application.

Reviews I've seen show it comparable to MX-2. This is coming from MX-2 and there is a definate 2-3c decrease under load. It is a pain to apply but well worth it.............

    Hey Tanware...
I am planning on using the ICD7 on my system. Can you expand on 'it's a pain to apply'?

What must I do different with this stuff versus other compounds?

Thanks (as I await delivery of my ICD7)

Get a WARM glass of water and let it sit in there and warm up first. Per the instructions on their site do not try and spread this, use a drop/ball about pea sized in the middle of the chip. after 10 minutes of time to evaporate the liquid inside the droplet let the preasure of the HS spread it out. They say there should be 50psi or so I think the tightend legs will provide enough preasure.

I also, with about a double pea sized drop, replaced the Nothbridge thermal pad. I don't recomend this to anyone, it is strictly a personal experiment and could potentially have devistatinge effects.

A personal recomendation is to get Prime 95 running for at least three hours right from the start (small cpu level burn). While this paste supposedly does not need cure time, cooling is great right off the bat, this will cause the paste to heat up and soften to assist in better settling of the micro diamond chips in the paste. Again this is a personal feeling and recomendation!

We just discussed this in great detail here.....ICD7 is pretty easy to apply, just dont try to spread it like a normal thermal compound and let the heat sink spread it out.....It also works exceptionally well for the chipset.

They are currently looking for people to test ICD7 with notebooks, I encourage you to hit them up for a free tube.....just make sure you follow through and post your results.
