So I will have my gateway-p6831fx soon and was wondering what the standard forceware driver is for the 8800gts. I just heard about www.laptopvideo2go.com and see that there are a ton of options. Does anyone know what the most used one is? or standard? I will be playing games more than anything. I would like one without many bugs. Give your opinion. Thanks.

Yes, get the latest drivers from there.

Ussually the latest are the best, but sometimes they will introduce bugs into certain games, so read the release notes @ nvidia.com and check what people are reporting at laptopvideo2go forums for any issues.

Right now I am using the newest Forceware Drivers 174.31 from laptop video 2 go. But I have used 169.09 and 171.16 prior to this new one and both of those ran pretty stable for my games. If you use riva tuner I read in another forum that this new driver does not work well with it but I can not confirm whether this is viable information as I have not tried riva tuner with my setup.I feel that there is no need to OC the GPU because it works fine for most games right out the box except I heard that Crysis is a demanding game and gives the video card a little bit of a struggle if you run the game at very high settings and maxed resolution. If you drop it down a notch it should run fine though.

171.16 was the best for me, but I'm using the newest 174.31 drivers. From 171 to 174, my 3DMark06 score went down from 6879 to 6778. 101 point drop, but it still plays the games I want perfectly.

I really liked the 174.20 driver. But for some reason I can't install it. Think the modified inf at laptopvideo is messed up or something. Someone else please confirm.

My favorite one is 169.09, the popular one. Works perfectly.

174.31 supposedly downclocks the card, according to the laptopvideo forums.

Not on mine, I'm still at default settings.
