Lately I been checking out some optimizing software for my 64bit vista, so far the 2 programs I checked out that were totally horrible. Can you guys please list any Optimizers you use or know that work for me?

/To lazy to go changing all the vista settings, I do use Ccleaner but I know since having an optimizer on my XP desktop it ran the system very smooth

As a rule, the so-called "optimizing software" is all garbage. It's a scam, plain and simple.

Such a broad statement, I agree with it in principle, but some of the software works great for users who do not want to run computer geek dos commands like chkdk (which is the best thing to run once a month). These programs make complex functions easy to execute with easy one click steps for people like my mom and grandpa. They do serve a purpose for non-tech people.

I was looking more into programs that shut down system services that simply did not needed to be running. Some system services run in the background of vista that slow it down, I used to have a list of which ones were important and which wern't but lost that list. When I had it setup correctly I got about a good 15% boost in performance alone, that and putting my system in performance mode is what I was aiming at doing. Now I usually google this kind of stuff, but value everyone's feedback, and I do agree with you lot of programs out there are full of cow flop. I seen anti virus programs that simply put a virus on your system once every 2 weeks so you can see its "doing something" and the owner gets paid for a program that can't do anything at all.

Again this is why i'm asking everyones opinion, if one of these applications actually works and is worth getting I'd be interested, however if it simply does what I already know (running defrag once a week, using CCleaner, yadda yadda) then the program would probably be useless.

But this is why i'm asking on here, I rather ask the question and get a solid answer then find out later after spending <Insert $ amount here> that I wasted it and could of bought more lap dances =D

Download the Vista guide, unzip it, and start at page 175. The author provides recommended settings for various services. Not exactly automated but it's not as if this needs to be done much more than once and, what the heck, it's free. ;)

Well right now I currently use Power Defragmenter GUI, can defrag vista in 4-5 minutes top, not sure if anyone else uses it seems to work quite well and extremely fast even large drives 1TB take 10 minutes.

I will say it again, the only diffrence with defrag programs is speed of defraging, so find a fast one and use it :)

By far the best optimiser I have ever used is Vista Manager - it works on Windows 7 too. Saves manually editing the registry and manually disable services etc. It is very safe and will increase the genernal speed of your OS tremendously. The comment about optimisers being garbage is complete nonsense. There are a whole host of tweaks you can do to increase the speed of Vista and a well written optimiser is a very convenient way of using them.
