Which driver is the best and how do I get it?
Should I download the one from Nvidia?
Thanks,
-
dont know which is the best since most people recommend different drivers, but you can get drivers from laptopvideo2go.com
-
175.63 go get it/ use it/ love it/ over clock it/ or just let it work in normal mode, but it's the right driver for you!
lol -
lol awesome advertisement
-
yeah, i dont know what i was thinking when i typed it....
-
175.63. is this the one with the code error that you have to fix manually?
-
nope, no code error for me. i just used the inf file inside the original_inf.zip and all was well. im going to give the 175.70 drivers a go tomorrow i think, but for right now...these drivers are the best i've seen and my 3dmark06 scores prove that. so im just making sure everyone else gets in on the good thing.
-
I'm still not too sure how to use the file...can you explain how to use 175.70
I found it on the video2go site.
Thanks
I checked Gateway's site and there is no update for nVidia boards
will there be any adverse effects ? -
ill give it a test today
-
avoid 175.70 - crashed my video card
some games wont work at all
some give very strange psychedelic colors
175.63 is it. -
I'm currently using 169.09, worked great for the longest time, I'm assuming you'd recommend I step up to 175.63 now. In any case, laptopvideo2go doesn't have those drivers, where did you get yours?
-
175.75 seem very stable
-
Where are you guys getting these super new drivers?
-
I do not recommend those drivers.
I have a 3dmark06 score of 7350 in my P-6860FX with the stock drivers, and when I tried 175.75, my marks went down to 6880. -
really?
look at sig...those are my 3dmarks with it -
i get better scores with the stock drivers too , its usually 400 points better in 3dmark06. Doesnt mean that it plays different games better though, I'm currently tryin to find the best ones for World of conflict.
-
I tried crysis too, and it felt a lil sluggier.
Also, I use the stock processor. Your marks are better for a different hardware configutarion -
there are a few things when trying new drivers...first you need to make sure all settings are where they are suppose to be and not assume it kept your old ones in place...this includes but is not limited to power options/powermizer settings/gpu settings/running task/virus scanners/performance settings and so forth. also if your using the correct inf file is a major part of it.
-
-
Maybe you can tell me what settings do you use. I usually set everything on high performance, letting the 3d app decide, vsync off, and of course, I used the modded inf. -
yeah, a few of them modded inf files are jacked up.
-
One thing I noticed with Laptopvideo2go is that some of their drivers will not load properly. I found, no endorsement here, that 3dGuru worked much better. What i couldn't load with Laptopvid...I could with 3dGuru (175.63) works great with Cyrsis on my 6860.
-
Johnksss, have you tried the 175.80 driver yet?
-
-
all depends on which inf file you use. usually (nv_disp.inf) and not (nvac.inf) -
Gateway put out a updated vidieo driver today for the P-6080x fx;
It is probubly a few months behind the ones we use;
http://support.gateway.com/support/...sta 64-bitVersion v7.15.11.6746&uid=198229982 -
Johnkss, what do you have your color settings at? especially
digital vibrance. -
Thank you! -
That's weird. They have just been released but its the same driver that came with my 6860.
-
Like I said, they are usaly behind,
oh well, this forum is a better source anyways
-
set to 65 right now -
they are behind because they dont want us cussing them out for putting out a bogus video driver.
-
I agree, thats why we get our drivers direct from each company, like sound, video, chipset.
-
I am currently having trouble getting the 174.31 driver to work even with the modded inf file. It is nvac instead of the other one so don't know if that is a factor. When I try to install it, it acts like it installs but then it will say that the system has not been optimized. Anybody have any suggestions? I have all but given up on the 175 series as they put a damper on my 3dmark score and I feel they the laptop does not perform to its full ability. I have a P-6860. Thanks
-
open up the inf file and do a search for 0609. if you find this string in it, then this is the correct inf file to use. and just delete the other one if it is there. you have i think only two choices. nvac and nv_disp.
-
-
and inf file is like a word doc file a notepad file a text file.
open it up and
click edit
click find
type in: 0609
click find. -
ahhh, I c. Thanks and I'll check back here with the results.
-
It does in fact have that file but it will still not work unfortunately. I have heard that the 174.31 driver is one of the best ones for the mobile 8800 gts but it doesn't want to be installed. What does it mean when it says that my system is not optimized? I downloaded this driver from laptopvideo2go should I try 3dguru? Most of the other drivers I tried worked fine but this is one of the few ones that will not install correctly. I currently have 174.93. Once again thanks for all the help!
-
Go with the 175.75 or the 175.80, it worked just fine for me.
-
-
-
I'm sorry let me explain that a bit better. So I go through the setup and at the end when it says to restart it will say instead of hardware has been changed that the system is not optimized and if you want to try again to run the setup process again basically. I'm pretty much stumped on this but I had this happen before with another driver so I might figure it out eventually but I would appreciate any knowledge you can give. Thanks
-
you got me on the optimized thing. i tried to recreate it right now, but couldn't
ok, did you try drivers from 175.63. they seemed to be fairly easy to install
1: download drivers and modded inf
2: extract files to c:\175.63
3: delete nvac.inf file from that directory (just to be safe)
4: copy new nv_disp.inf file to c:\175.63
5: open device manager and click update driver
6: click browse computer for file
7: click let me pick driver
8: click have disk
9: click next
10: browse to folder c:\175.63\nv_disp.inf and click open then click ok
11: click next and click yes to the popup if one comes up.
12: let it install. you should see a window with a red highlighted bar saying install this driver. click install this driver.
13: once finished, reboot computer and you should be fully installed.
this is just incase you didn't do this already. -
Alright, thanks for the help.
-
your welcome, hope it works out this time.
-
I was off when I said that when it failed it said 'the system was not optimized' lol some how I changed modified to optimized. So it actually said 'the system was not modified' if that changes anything. The funny thing is I replaced the correct inf and everything and it is still acting like I didn't change anything. Maybe this changes things but maybe I should just give up. Just to let you know johnksss, I do know how to update the driver I was just trying to find the best one, but I appreciate you trying to help me out=]
