I want to buy a capture card to capture some gameplay footages from console games, which one would be the best for the laptop? I also want to use it to play games on my monitor.

The Pinnacle DVC series come highly reccomend from me, and other video-ographers I know who do the same thing. The only thing is, not matter what, the lag will be too bad to be able to use your laptop screen as a tv for your console game. It'll be like a full seccond or more which is way past unplayable. I have the DVC-80, and it's good, quality could be better, however, for me, it's fine for capturing games off halo 2 and such. But if you want to use it to reccord tv shows or something, a DVC-90 (or higher) would be better.
Also, make sure the hard drive in your notebook has a 8MB buffer or higher for reccording on anything more than the lowest quality. A 2MB buffer just can't keep up...
Also, the pinnacle program sucks sooooo much, use windows movie maker for both capture and editing...nice, simple, easy to use.
BTW, this is a usb 2.0 card that can be purchased from best buy. (or anywhere else pretty much) -
I have the Dazzle 85 card or something like that ,its a USB capture device, but it won't work with my MX7525.... Is it the drivers on the computer that won't let me do it? It works just fine on my desktop.
-
Must be the drivers, go here and install this: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSi...+8+and+Studio+8+QuickStart.htm?mode=documents
It's the drivers for the DVC-80, but should work for your DVC-85 -
thnx a load!! I hope that works. The thing is that the device itself is working the only thing that is not is the actual image...it's done let me install and ill geve back the feedback.

i think you have to have the 90 if you wanna burn to dvd. the 85 doesnt support that feature... just video cd
-
No one said anything about burning to a dvd....and, it doesn't matter what version you have. Just edit your movie, then use another program to burn it. As i said, the pinnacle program sucks some major ****...
-
Yea it does, pinnacle that is, I only needed it to make some movies for my myspace ( www.myspace.com/peanutheadkilla)
It was not the drivers that were giving me a hard time, it was the settings....I got it to work however now I can do more stuff for my myspace!
yay... -
ahhh myspace....how I hate thee so well....
Here's my philosphy on myspace....myspace is for people who can't make a real website (or code html), are too cheap to buy a $2 domain, and too poor to pay for hosting....
Of course I "tuned it down" a bit for the forum...Anyway, yea, just had to, lol. I'm just so tired of the myspace stuff, and the whole competing for friends thing is the most messed up...

which one the better with the least lag? If all of them lag, is there one that doesn't? -
Well, I reckon that the hauppage would be the best, and have the least lag. However, all of these will have lag that is too much to play games on. Now, if you can hook up your game system DIRECTLY to the monitor, there will be no lag. But, with all capture devices, there will be lag. True, the lag may only be like 1 seccond...but a LOT can happen in one seccond during gaming. Also, the pinnacle device would restrain your gaming to using a little 2"x2" box on the screen (you would have to put the software on preview mode, and then it just shows a little preview box, now, you can reccord it, then have it in full-screen quality, but I just mean that for live feeds you are restrained to a little box on the screen. Although some software may allow you to use it similiar to a DVR function to where you can watch live TV in full-screen or close to it.), the hauppage would allow you to do full screen.
Also, there is really no way to tell how much lag there will be w/o using these devices first-hand....and I have only use the pinnacle before.
But, like I said, no matter what, there will be lag unless hooked up directly to the monitor...now, this would be a fairly simple hook-up if you had an external monitor, and a xbox 360 w/ the VGA cable... -
will it be possible to hook the console to laptop monitor though?
-
Short answer...no. It may be possible, but it would require some severe dismanteling of your laptop to get to the cable. Then, the interface will probably be some obscure interface that you can't use. Also, because of the design on laptop LCD's, they probably lack the internals to display anything w/o a GPU or GMA...
Best capture card for MX7515?
