I am getting my 7801u sometime next week. I got a laptop case but I just noticed that its up to 15.4" screen size. I don't think mine will fit in it. Too bad, its really nice too.

Anyway, is buying a second exactly similar hard drive and using a RAID setup be the best upgrade for my gaming? Or would a processor be better? More memory?

For starters, the P-7801u is a top of the line gaming machine. Very few notebooks outperform it. I would first test the machine, and then see how well it performs. Trust me, you won't be disappointed; I wasn't disappointed with my P-7811FX.

If you must upgrade it, well, here is a basic outlook of your choices. 4GB of memory is more than plenty. Upgrading your processor to something better than the P8400 costs more than $300. Buying another hard drive (320GB 7,200RPM) costs around $100. Setting up RAID 0 can be a hassle, and its has its benefits, but also its drawbacks. And, lastly, you CANNOT upgrade the video card. I'd say test the machine first, then see what you want to do.

The only real shortcoming of this machine IMO is the processor, and that's relative to the rest if the package. My plan for my 7801u is to run it bone stock for a while and wait for prices to come down on A)SSD drives and B)Processors and then eventually pop in a new proc and a pair of quality SSD drives in a RAID 0.

A guy I know at work is running his 7805u with a pair of 7200rpm drives in a RAID 0 and a torqued up core2 3ghz proc from an ebay seller; I need to get him to 3dmark it so I can compare scores
