    Do you have a sigmantel sound card? Also try disabling EAX and using the game in compatibility mode for XP.

    I've had this before.

    Make sure that you are not using the Windows Vista installed High Definition Audio and get the actual drivers for your machine (For my case, its the IDT Audio Drivers).

    I think ours are conexant, you can get them from Gateway's website (enter your laptop details and d/l from the list of compatible drivers)
