Hello all, I'm new around here and in urgent need of your help. My NV53's hdd had been dead for a while which i replaced today. It originally had a Seagate 500GB 5400 and I upgraded with the 7200.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and installed an A/V. I then went to the drivers and download support site to download and install the web cam application plus VGA driver. I also found a BIOS upgrade application and downloaded and proceeded to install it. During the installation, I happened to click on the VGA download at the bottom of the browser and it prompted me that it would open in 5 mins (this as it was still downloading).
I watched as the VGA download counted down to 1 minute while the BIOS flash progressed. All of a sudden, the laptop began to shut down, which I thought was a regular reboot process after an installation. But then I heard a single beep. From there on, all I could hear was the processor fan running; there was no flashing of the HDD indicator, or the caps or num lock indicator. The only lights that were on, were the power and the charger indicators. The screen remained black.
I unplugged the charger and removed the battery, held the power button for about 20 seconds and then replaced it. I then tried rebooting the laptop but it was the same result of no HDD indicator and the fan running.
I'm really, really confused and bamboozled by this problem as I've had no prior experience of this nature. Please help a clueless noob.

The first problem is whenever doing a BIOS flash never do anything else. A bios flash is one of the most dangerous things you can do to a system. Yors is not the first system, nor last, to be bricked by the procedure.
First thing is find out the bios type. Therre is info all over the net as to what the single beep error code means for your bios type. More than likely , one way or another, you will ha ve to perform an emegrgency bios recovery. I am not familiar with your model but others may be.............. -
I will make a few checks in an attempt to get an understanding where performing an emergency bios recovery is concerned.
