Has anyone ever had this before? I'm currently using an Ubuntu CD to post.

Sounds like explorer.exe isn't running. Try CTRL+ALT+DELETE to start task manager, if it works try starting explorer.exe, if you can't, and there's some sort of error, try to run "sfc /scannow" (just ignore it asking for CD). If that doesn't work you can always just run things from the task manager : ) (if task manager even works, that is).

    I fixed it somehow.

I couldn't do anything but move the mouse around. It was like that for days.

Today I started messing around with the options in F8. One of them worked.. I forgot which one lol

It was a last ditch sort of thing. I thought "how could it get any worse?"

Well I selected one of the options lower on the list and then I saw the holy login screen. Honestly, I have never been so happy to see it.

Btw, I used Ubuntu over the weekend. I was streaming the football game through veetle. Dang OS locked up at least five times.

I'll stick with windows, thank you.
