I'm looking to possibly put a blu ray drive into my laptop for New Years. I found this one online: http://www.fazecomputers.net/servlet/the-48/HP-Part-452220-dsh-001,-Matsushita/Detail

It looks like it should fit into the laptop and it's a reader/burner. I'm confused as to why it's cheaper than the one on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...+Drives-_-Sony+Optiarc+America+Inc-_-27118009

The biggest difference I see is 1.6X vs. 2X read speed for blue ray discs. Does that make a $40 difference?

i'd go with the one from newegg, simply because it's not only brand-name product, but also faster :) 2x is slow enough as it is ;)

What does the speed have to do with a movie viewing experience? I understand it's impact on burning, but not viewing...
