I did a search and see that a few have installed Blu-Ray drives in this laptop. The older Sony 5500 series has apparently been replaced by the HL-CT10N.
As this is a SATA drive, I'm interested in hearing what others have installed in this laptop for a Blu-Ray drive and if it worked as expected. My other option is the external Plextor PX-B310U which is highly rated.

Any help or comment would be appreciated.

Personally, I'd be worried USB 2.0 would be anemic. I'd try getting a 5.25" eSATA enclosure and mounting my own blu-ray drive in it.

That or go the USB 3.0 route once enclosures start hitting the channel.

Update! I ordered an HL-CT10N SATA internal Blu-Ray drive off ebay which came today. Simple upgrade; just switched the bezel, bracket and slid in the new drive. I set PowerDVD 9 to region A, installed AnyDVD HD and I'm enjoying it now.
