Okay recently I did a teardown on the wife's lappy a NV5927u and installed a Broadcom bluetooth module. The issue I am running into is that anytime the machine is shut down or a restart is done it will not automatically start the bluetooth on a cold boot, she has to hit the fn + f6 to turn the bluetooth on. No issues with sleep and the bluetooth works fine else wise it is just from a cold boot. I have checked that the bluetooth service is running at startup and it is. Anybody have any ideas.

So which model is this and is the drivers the right drivers? Are you sure this is the right bluetooth for that machine? And can you tell us the model number of the device or link to the page of it to look at cause I only used a external bluetooth dongle to use and so far that has worked. And when you mean module are you saying wifi module with bluetooth or actual bluetooth device itself?

Darn and the rest of the tear down doesn't give link to the rest to see what the bluetooth looks attached unless you got a pic of yours atttached? I got a NV52 and NV79 and like to stick a bluetooth in if that works?

I seem to remember, with the P79, that there is a software option from gateway to tell the BT to be either on or off with boot. I had installed Win7 without Gateways bloatware so I did not have the normal Gateway boot options. Not sure if this could be an issue with the installed software, especially since this is a soft hard on/off we are talking about here with the FN+F6...........

StormJumper which pics were you looking for? The 2 teardown/install write-up links I posted were created by me. I had to break it up into 2 posts because slickdeals forum would only allow x number of pics per post. The second link shows the actual module installed. Let me know what your looking for and maybe I can help.

The main thing is does the motherboard have the header necessary to connect the wire and is there a location in the chassis to mount the module.

Tanware it is odd, I have googled a ton and come up with various answers but so far no solutions. The OS install is the stock install since she has had it. Win 7 HP 64bit. I'll keep plugging and maybe find an answer at some point. None of the other laptops we own with bluetooth exhibit this type of behavior. P7811, Panasonic CF-W8, Lenovo x120e.

Odd must be my settings I wasn't or forgot to click on the pic to get a bigger pic. Now I see what it looks like I might order one from China that matches that number and cable and give it a try. But for some reason I think one or more of the pic didn't show up on my side...hmm...I try later tonight as I am at work and will give it a try again when I get home. I didn't click on the second link that maybe why it didn't show correctly but I will try again when I get home. And I think I have the same connection on my NV52 and NV79 do you think this will work from those laptop? Do you think this bluetooth device will work?

The one you linked to was the first one I ordered based on the advice of a prior post in that slickdeal thread and it was the wrong connector end for the motherboard. If the 2 laptops you have use the same MB header as my wifes NV59 it uses the type of connector in these links
    Acer Aspire AS5740 5740D 25340 2 1 Bluetooth Module with Cable | eBay
    Acer Aspire AS5740 5740D 25340 2 1 Bluetooth Module with Cable | eBay
    Acer Aspire 5738 5738Z 2 1 Bluetooth Module with Cable | eBay

Before you do anything find out if the MB in each of the laptops your considering working on has a header on the MB for a bluetooth adapter, what the header looks like, 4, 6, or 8 pin, where does the module go in the chassis, determine length of cable you would need.

That is what mine seems to look like at the motherboard side 4 pin not 6 pin cause I did mistake order a 6 pin and was able to return it. But the NV52 was 4pin and the NV79 I have to take it apart still to see which pin configuration it is.

Any progress StormJumper or is it a backburner project????

I still have not been able to figure out why bluetooth will not automatically turn on from a cold start or restart, I'll keep digging though.

    UPDATE:

Ok I took the jumper and ordered the Acer bluetooth module and will test it on my NV52 and if it works I test in on my NV79. I have like 4 NV52 so if it works then I have bluetooth on my NV52 and NV79.

Not yet it's coming from china and with the US shutdown...hopefully this doesn't affect the package...When I get it I am going to dissemble the laptop and give it a try....but I do have identical NV52 that I reformat for this test as well just so I don't hose my current NV52. I have like 3 - NV52 plus motherboard, I bought the first NV52 liked it and found 3 more to keep.

I got enough experiences doing and reading prior to this so I have a good handle of how to do things like this now.
