Ok...I just bought a new P-6860 and it says it has Bluetooth. Since I have never owned anything with bluetooth other than my Cell phone, I was wondering how it works.
What headphones can I buy that will work with it directly, or do I have to have one of those dongle thingies?
What kind of sound should I expect from it?

    Any suggestions on makes/models?

    Thanks

I have been reading some posts on Bluetooth headsets....and I guess what I need to know is what does the P-6860 run with meaning.....2.0+EDR....A2DP? Keep in mind I have no idea what these two things mean.

I haven't tried the 6860 with Bluetooth headphones, but I wanted to just mention that I use the BT with my Microsoft mouse and it works great. Very nice not to have any cords or dongles to worry about.

As far as headphones go, in my experience with bluetooth headphones, the audio quality is a bit lacking and the battery issue is a pain. Reception can cut in and out and you'll probably have fewer audio channels. If anyone else has found a good pair, I'd be interested to hear about it. Since you're probably sitting in front of your laptop when you use headphones for it, it's better to just get a good wired pair (cheaper too).

So my thoughts are just to use the Bluetooth for:

    -Mouse/Keyboard
    -Wireless connectivity to printer
-Headset (phone/skype or gaming communication don't need so much audio fidelity)

get yourself a good bt headphone/headset combination that allows you to use it as normal voip headset, and at the same time allowing you to answer to your cell phone. The quality depends on the headset you buy. I currently am happy with the sennheiser vmx-100 and the Plantronics Pulsar 590A. I use these 2 with yahoo messenger, Skype and my Omnia

    cheers ...

I wouldnt recommend BT stereo headsets for they are expensive (Really Expensive!) and not too much good reviews are put out for them.

    Coincidentally.... ;)

I just got my 6860 FX today :D

And after a bit of time trying to figure out how to get BT to work on it - I'm actually far more impressed with this Gateway BT solution than ANY other system I've used to date

This one (once you've paired the headset) automatically uses the BT Headset when it is turned on and the sound quality has improved dramatically - I have no idea "what went wrong" but for the first time ever I feel BT is a viable solution for.mono- audio (Voip/Skype etc) uses.

Edit: I'm using a cheap n cheerful Motorola BT350 headset

Well, I was talking about the stereo bluetooth headsets (dual ears with mic), those ones are really expensive. But the mono ones are not that much.

Thanks for all the replies.....I guess I should have mentioned it before, I am looking for Headphones for Gaming only. Thus I want the best possible sound and performance out of my games as possible.

BTW....my 6860 just showed up today as well......GAME ON!!

    Best of luck with yours!
I really suggest regular 3.5mm Headphones rather than bluetooth ones though. Saves you a lot of money and you can bet to have good sound quality out of it as well.
