I am getting this tomorrow (shipped) but I am planning to return it, I just have that feeling I won't be happy with the disaply being 1440 x 900...I was thinking about something better like the TOSHIBA Qosmio X505-Q850 or the mx17 alienware.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

I need some good feedbacks on what you think about the laptop and how good it is and how well it does for gaming and how fast the boot time is.

The qosmio has beyond terrible battery life, your 7908u should get around 3 hours. The mx17 maybe not bad but its more expensive. I dunno, the 1440x900 screen is actually pretty not bad for gaming.

I returned my laptop also because of 1440 x 900 resolution.
I'm planning to buy G51J-A1, you should take a look at it.

It says the Toshiba one has 3+ hours Battery Life.
    They are both nice..
Its now between 3 laptops, 2 of them are really expensive..
The Alienware m17x and the Sager 9850.

My friend got it and returned it because it got 50 minutes of battery life while websufing.

the m17x? The base configuration which is equal to the new 7915 series is exactly 640$ more expensive FOR THE EXACT SAME THING, and then you pay 150$ more for the 1920x1200 screen on the m17x.... Then again, you can overclock your cpu on the m17x :\

I mean you are pretty much paying around $700 dollars more for a better screen lol, and not to mention the Qosmio has a huge downgrade on the GPU which is the most important thing on most laptops since you can't easily find graphics cards to upgrade it.

Get the gateway and buy the screen mentioned above, and pay someone to install it for you, and it will still be cheaper by like $300 dollars.

And that screen would actually work on the 7908u FX?

Yeah the panels use a standard inverter so as long as you stay away from dual lamp screens and LED screens you can just about upgrade to anything you want (assuming you chose the 16:10 panels)

1680x1050 or 1920x1200 are both nice resolutions (though for gaming i've never had a problem with a 1440x900 screen, i just want higher resolutions for productivity)

Seems like an easy fix, also does this laptop have good cooling? or does it overheat?
Does anyone have any 3d mark scores?

Hmm...I would just test it out for a week or so. I don't know if they still ship the 1920x1200 screens anymore and I don't know if they used it with that model. But you may be lucky like me, I got my 7805u this summer and it's great for me. Play everything I throw at it, one little problem is that you can't OC the CPU but it doesn't really matter because it might cause temperature issues.

Another thing is if you keep it, remember to clean it regularly, or just keep HWMonitor on when on your computer, so if your temps get a bit higher than usual you can just clean it to see if that works.

Overall I like the FX Series, they are a good Budget Gaming Laptop and they are way worth the money. (I paid $1000CAD for mine including shipping + taxes)
