I have 7510gx and want to get rid of the "Gateway" lettering and just keep the little emblem. Anyone ever try and get rid of the branding on the front of their case? Any info on what the logo is made of and what kind of adhesive they use would be great. Also what chemicals might be safe for removal without damaging the case (acetone, goo gone etc...)?
    Thanx

I'd suggest against doing anything to mutilate your expensive computer. Even though it will not effect the performance in anyway, Gateway may invalidate your warranty.

Many people have used a plastic knife with some kind of "goo gone" solvant to remove automobile emblems. Try at your own risk!!

PS. BTW, how do you like the 15.4" ultrabright screen? Any flickering at all at max brightness?

Carefull not to scratch it. The material is not as tough as a car's body.

I would ask the manufacturer if there is any kind of "post" in the emblem going through the case before you even think about removing it, unless you want to risk there being a big hole underneath.

If they say you're good to go there, a piece of fishing line is my preferred tool for "debadging" car emblems, just warm the goo slightly with a hairdryer, and use it like dental floss. Mothers wax should take off the rest of the goo. Try it in a small area that's not too visible before you take the emblem off though, to make sure it won't smear whatever finish you have.

Id probably use one of those clever devices such as a sticker if i wanted to cover something up without eating through the back of my screen and out the front... but thats just me
