Because Intel's supposed to be releasing new P socket CPUs in July so I'm hoping the price for the T8300 or T9300 will go down.

What you guys think? Thank you!

Is it worth $50 to wait that long?
By then, the 6860 may almost be obsolete...LOL

I mean based off the past, when newer processers come out, the prices don't drop 50% immedietly. So should I buy a T8300 or T9300 now?

for gaming, t8300 is enough, unless you have extra money to burn. t9300 is for like video editing and stuff like that

Prices will drop, but probably not by a huge amount. There is always something newer, better, etc...around the corner.

I picked up a T8300 brand new in the retail box for $212.00 off of ebay a couple weeks back. To me, the T9300 doesn't offer enough of a performance difference to justify spending over a hundred dollars more. Besides, my P-6831FX isn't my only gaming rig.

My desktop does the heavy duty while the laptop is for weekend trips home.

You can get a T9300 for about $300. It has 6MB L2 Cache, faster speed-I am happy with results of upgrade- don't know about T8300, I didn't even consider that chip because I wanted a noticeable difference from the stock chip.
Unless you want to overclock, it should be the best "bang for buck"-
Try to buy the best chip you can afford.

:D I sold one on ebay, and this one was in the BST forums for months.

Now, it's just lying around. I should put it into my P6860FX, but looking for the right thermal paste + need to get the right screwdrivers to open this baby up. Living in the dorms means you don't always have access to the right tools :D.
