Found another reason not to buy Gateway. I purchased a Laptop NX570X from Gateway. After I ordered it I had an unexpectant bill arrive and can not afford the computer at this time. I called Gateway and explained this to their returns department. They are going to charge me a 15% restocking fee. Which I feel is very unfair, I checked with Dell and HP they do not charge a restocking fee, Dell even allows 21 day return period. Gateway's return period is 15 days. Just thought I would inform everyone of Gateway's return policy if you aren't already aware of it. Now I know why so many folks warned me about Gateway. Buyer Beware!

All manufacturers will charge you a fee if you open the machine.

I did the same with lenovo, and they wanted to charge me a fee even for a brand new un-opened package, so Gateway is not the only one.

I'm not trying to be ass or anything, but how on earth do you buy a notebook and not have the funds to pay up when you get the bill?

It sounds to me like you were trying to get a free laptop for a month, return it and not expect to pay anything.

I just hope you didn't give up the entire story, because if that's it..... It just sounds like your complaining about something that is entirely your fault.

Not trying to get a free laptop, just want to make sure whay I pay for works the way it is supposed to. Also, support is furnished in a nice and polite way and doen't make me feel like a fool for calling them. Machine would not start when I received it, I then repacked it in the same box on the day I received it, called Gateway returns they said I had done something wrong and it would cost me a restocking fee to return it, I'll admit sometimes I am a hothead so I got my return authorization and will return this computer. As for wanting something for free you don't know me or what my intentions are, I just wanted to let other people know the return policy of Gateway. From now on I'll stick to my desktop.

Like I had said, I didn't know the whole story. I wasn't trying to label you or anything of the sort. I do admit, I overlooked the statement about the unexpected bill, my appologies.

I returned my laptop because I wasn't happy with the video display. I made a mistake and chose the incorrect option . I called the Gateway salesperson who sold me the laptop and without any debate I received an authorization through e-mail to return the product. I returned it within 15 days and I don't remember a restocking fee. They also paid the return freight. Also, Within 7 days after my re-order, I had another laptop with the Ultrabrite display delivered from China.

My computer is now five months old and I am very happy with it.

    Maybe I'm just lucky.

Never say you don't have money or i don't like something that's not technically defect. Try to find a real problem, such as the machine gets very hot, display dies intermittently, it gave me blue screen, and etc.... If they offer you an replacement, say that you would like to get a refund first and shop another Gateway after you do more study. Personally, I never own a Gateway. However, I have no problem return Dell even after 21 days. Dell pays return shipping. That's the main reason I like Dell so much. Great machine with Great customer service.
