I also posted this in the Accessories section a few days ago, but i know i will probably get better feedback here...if any admin is reading this, please you are welcome to delete the other thread.

I am trying to choose between these two. Right now I am looking for one for my M-152XL, but if i like the cooler i will buy one for my brother's 17 inch HP too.

    BYTECC Notebook Cooling Pad NC-500
    http://www.byteccusa.com/product/cooler/NC-500/nc-500.htm
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834999336
Pros: Tested by many and seems to do its job well. Made of metal.

    BYTECC Notebook Cooling Pad NC-768
    http://www.byteccusa.com/product/cooler/NC-768/NC-768.htm
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997312
Pros: Will be easier to use on lap, and has adjustable positions. Also has a USB 'hub' built in.

    Both are same price.
UPDATE: Newegg agreed to drop the price on the NC-500 to 14.95 to match price with another website.

    What do you guys think?

If you have suggestions for better coolers for around the same price range...please feel free to let me know.

    Thx!

Any idea what company cooler this is from?

it seems pretty nice TBH. But every listing of that cooler does not have the company name.

them coolers aren't cracked up what they claim to be..... just buy one and test it out. remember to leave the computer on high and gpu and cpu settings set to high. dont want you to be fooled thinking it's really working great when it way the laptop doing it all on it's own. test it for a day or two and if you don't like it...send it back...that's why it's best to walk in a store. you dont like it, you get your money back allot quicker.

edit: im running two 4" fans and they made a 1 to 2 degree drop. room temp is about 98 degrees right now

im thinking im gunna go with the NC-768 because even if it doesnt do well with its fans and stuff, it can serve as a pretty good stand to elevate my notebook.

hehe, no harm done, i know you were joking; i tried to come up with a retort to match your comment =P

nah man. 40 bucks for a cooler? BLEH. plus if i was spending 40 bucks on the NC820, why not get a NC1000 (the 15 inch version) for 40 bucks from newegg? 38 if i op for the white instead of black...discrimination on the basis of color imo! wheres the NAACP when you need them.

okay so i took your advice and went for an instore cooler in order to make returns quicker...

got the belkin and decided to try it out since it had mixed reviews.

so far i can say on idle it does not, but while playing a dota game in wc3, it defiently lowered temps by 2-4 of the CPU. the left arm rest is also noticeably cooler, but overall im not impressed, especially since its not the best fit with my laptop. so im off to return it. gunna check out compusa coolers if i can find a compusa store near by that is.

any idea why Notebook Hardware Control 1) wouldnt create a data log and 2) wont moniter HD temps?

ya killing me with the jokes lakjin! LOL!

power meaning...powermizer options or by clicking on the power icon and setting it to full cpu power@100 percent. since this is when you want it to cool. the gpu should be in full power mode already and running at 16x. all you have to do is run a game and let it just idle in window mode. and watch the temp. for 3 minutes. then turn the cooler on.... then turn it off again.

well that was one of my many test i did...lol

ah okay. well it was on "High Performance" the whole time. Dont think that 100% cpu (is it?) but it will have to do. I wasnt planning on posting this data. It was only supposed to be for personal use, doing my norm things, so i could compare cooler to cooler.

btw dood, is there some way for this program you showed me to take "average temperatures"? would make it hella easier to compare coolers that way.

it does... it shows the lowest the highest and the average.

click view then click clear. do this right when you want to start testing

sorry about the wording. i was just naming them in any random order because it says at the top of screen what they are. mah bad.

    value/min/max

is how it should look in hwmonitor.
