I know I know there a million posts on this but what is the highest performing/best CPU that ia direct swap/plug n play CPU for the 7805u?
I heard it is the P9600 if you are to stay with the OEM 25W or T9800 to go up to 35W
I am not mechanically inclined and I want the best CPU that is a simple swap out. A few screws I can do
Thanks

Well, i'd say cooler = better, so i'd vote P series CPU
Umm, frankly, if you never did a CPU swap before, i'd find an older desktop and practice a few times (like p4 or newer) -

Thanks
Ya i think il stay with the 25w P-series
As far as 25W speaking, from my research, it looks like the P9700 2.8Ghz is the fastest the 7805u can go. Is this correct/compatable? I will look at a few old desktops and practice on them. Easy swap out/ plug n play? Thanks -

I can't say what our laptops are specifically compatible with
 sorry.

And as for physical compatibility, it is good.
And yea, pretty easy swap in and out, make sure you apply new thermal paste, and yes it is plug n play (maybe reinstall windows though) -

Thanks.
Now where to buy the P9700??? I cant find it anywhere

well... that's going to be fricken expensive...
how much do you want to spend?
(P.S. the p9700 isn't out yet as a retail chip)
EDIT: try this: http://cgi.ebay.com/LowPower-25W-Intel-Core2Duo-P9600-2-66GHz-1066FSB-6M-L2_W0QQitemZ110350060295QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19b1604b07&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
P.S. that guy will sell you a p9700 for $340 -

 t9900/x9100 35w/45w

I suggest you to pick a P9500, for me it is the best bang of the buck.
I mean 2.53 ghz 6mb of chache and 25W.
