So im playing Call of Duty 4 and the screen just blacks out and the sound goes into a loop. I can't CTRL+ALT+DEL, alt+f4, FN+esc, alt+esc out of it. things that i can do is FN+F1 to turn on/off the lights OR hold down the power button to shut it off. theres no other way out of it. When i turn it back on, the problem occurs again but faster then before. After another restart, it happens even faster. anyone else having this problem.

    COD4 settings
    Display 1440*900
    ANTI-ALIASING OFF
    sync every frame: off
    detail: normal
    corpses: tiny

    SPORE settings... all maxed out

My laptop is completely stock, no extra drivers, only gateway drivers.

sounds like a basic stall/crash. i would suggest updating both BIOS and video driver.

you can use a CD as well. also, i believe there's a guide here on NBR for updating your BIOS with a USB drive.

I am going to try out cleaning my fans from the bottom with a blow-dry (air set to cold)
