As the title states, i know the machine does not have a dual-dvi link but one of the gateway reps said it convert hdmi to dvi and run a 30" monitor at 2560 x 1600?

    Possible or no?

Single-link DVI can only reach 1920x1200. You need dual-link for that kind of resolution with DVI output from the laptop, no matter what type of monitor you are driving.

Wait, does the GW machine have a DVI or HDMI connection?

The gateway apparently has an HDMI connection -- so thats why asking if it can do the coversion to full resolution for a 30 inch monitor.

I was playing UT3 on my 40" HD-TV at 1920x1200 using HDMI and getting FPS in the mid 40s.
