I went to pc.com today to see what Intel has to say about my pc decisions. It was mostly basic stuff that I could find on this forum, but there was one interesing thing. According to this link, some laptops are able to change batteries without turning off. Are the FX series capable of this?

I don't think you need the battery to run the Lappy. At least at Best Buy they didn't -
You shouldnt need battery to run laptop if its plugged in. Im not using battery right now. If you always keep it plugged in, take the battery out because keeping it plugged in with the battery in lowers battery life i hear.

I know what he is talking about. A number of thinkpad's can do this without shutting off the power and on battery power without being plugged in, remove one battery and replace it with another without having a cold shutdown performed (which is what would happen if you did it on an FX) Those laptops must have a short term reserve battery built in. The answer is no about the Gateway Fx's though, It's not hot Swapable.

Can the FX models "hot swap"?
