Yesterday I tried to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on my Gateway P-6831FX laptop, and as soon as I got into the game my screen went black then I got a BSOD. When I rebooted the computer, I got a message saying that my display driver has stopped responding and has been recovered. Shortly after that, I got another BSOD, and now when my laptop boots up the first POST screen is distorted but I can get into Windows just fine (no distortion at all). However, no graphics drivers will install, when I look at the card in the device manager it shows: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). I'm not real sure what to do, I've tried installing new drivers several times, using Driver Sweeper in safe mode to remove the old ones completely, and still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas, has anyone ever seen this before?

does not sound good, is it overheating? Hopefully it isn't a reflow issue as then it becomes time for a new machine.................

It has overheated several times since I've had it. However, when this occurred the temps were staying under 60 degrees Celsius, so I don't believe that was the problem. I had the laptop's video chip reflowed a few months back by a local computer repair shop.

I think i've got the same problem.
I have a Gateway P6860-FX with 8800m GTS
I was playing The Witcher 2 and suddenly the game had frozen and the green dots appear on screen. I restarted the windows and nvidia driver has stopped working.
I reinstalled the windows (installed a new fresh copy) seven x86 ultimate.
At first windows installed it's own driver, then i downloaded the newest driver from nvidia.com and installed it, but there was the same problem
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Specialist in the Service Center told me that i can reflash VGA BIOS
Please, explain me is that device problem or BIOS reflash helps?
Thanks in advance!
