I have a couple of questions about using canned air to clean my laptop. I bought a can of CleanSafe air at Wal Mart. It has a list of surfaces which it can be used on and the list includes keyboards and A/C vents. Would it also be safe to use on the interior of the laptop? Also, would blowing the air directly into the fan vents be an effective way to lower temps, or would I have to disassemble the laptop?
Thanks.

yes it is safe to blow out the vents and fans with that compressed air can.
just make sure the system is off. -
Also, for those who come after, not all compressed air is good for cleaning out vents and fans. CleanSafe is rated "moisture free", but not all compressed air is...best to check before using just any compressed air -
lol dont turn it upside down and spray, thats just going to shoot co2 into your parts.

Actually nearly all of the 'canned air' products use difluoroethane. If you spray it upside down you get liquid difluoroethane which will soon boil off, but the bigger problem is that water vapor in the air freezes as the liquid product evaporates; and no product can prevent that.
(Note that the difluoroethane also contains bitterent to prevent abuse as a drug.)
You can use it without taking your laptop apart, but I have found that it is only truly effective with a range of about a half an inch to an inch. You'll get the big chunks out, but it won't be totally clean. Also try and hold fans or you can take them above designed speeds, it shouldn't matter but it is always a risk and thus should be avoided. -
I think I said that....

Thanks to all who replied to my post. I just cleaned it out and it's running like a champ. Lower temps around the board; particularly the HDDs. I may open it up and spray around inside if I get time; I just got back from college so I need to unpack all my stuff first. This definitely helped though. Thank you!
