Hey all. I recently reinstalled Windows Vista on my notebook and I accidently deleted the Recovery Partition. I tried reinstalling the modem driver for 64 bit Vista on the Gateway site but it wouldnt work. I have the Realtec RTL8168B/8111B Family Ethernet Driver and the Intel Wireless Driver. Im missing the last modem driver. Just wondering if any P-6860FX owners could tell me which one it is and possible send it to me, it has to be Vista 64bit. Thank you very much for any help.

My story is the same as yours canuck, but I've managed to lose all my drivers.

I made the recovery DVD before I borked the laptop by deleting the recovery partition and dual booting Vista64 and Ubuntu64. Now all of a sudden my 6860 and every other computer in the house thinks my recovery disc is a blank one. I had even checked the DVD with gateway recovery center and had used it earlier. Think I've got it somewhat sorted but I could be missing out on something. Grrrrr.

Gateways Drivers on their site are kind of lacking in the 6860fx Vista 64bit department. Would be wonderful if someone could get all those drivers available to people like myself who can't stop messing around.

    Hey...

I think I found the modem drivers... I used the backup creator and then dug through the ISO it makes... you can download them here...

    http://www.box.net/shared/2u3rbr6o08

I'll remove them in about a week.... you'll need WinRAR to extract the files.

Also, I did dig through the ISO and removed all the programs, leaving only the driver directories. ((I'm not comfortable including the programs/software))... I also left the main directory structure and files so I would think it will still auto run and install all the drivers without programs... but I'm not sure.

I also added a "readme" to the root directory that has a "key" of the folder codes with what drivers are inside.

At any rate, I'm willing to upload the stripped down driver CD ((if the CD doesn't work automatically, you should be able to install the drivers manually))... but the WinRAR is about 175MB so if someone knows where I can upload as one file I'll do that... otherwise I'll have to break it down to about 19 parts to upload it to the same place as the modem drivers.

    TK.

lol.... I would assume he's not using the modem, but installing the drivers could help with ACPI or certain sleep states... I know sometimes certain things like sleep or hibernation won't be enable unless all the hardware is installed.

You're a life saver man! I've been trying to find those drivers all night, thank god for the search button. These are the correct 64 bit drivers needed for the Modem on the HD Audio device.

The drivers for the modem on the official gateway site are the 32 bit drivers, not the 64 bit drivers like they are supposed to be. I wonder why Gateway wouldn't put the right ones up there...
