    Hey all,

So i have this problem with my lappy, i just bought Toy Story 1 and 2 and they both wont play on my p6831. Every other dvd works fine and both toy story 1 and 2 work fine on a portable dvd player i have.

Can someone please give me some clues as to what is going on...

    Thank you in advance..

Thanks for the reply but no, it's not the region code. I cant even find a driver for the dvd rom drive at Gateways website.

Thats because there IS no driver for the DVD ROM. It uses the Windows driver. I had that same issue on my last laptop with a couple of store bought DVDs as well. AnyDVD took care of it, so it seems some DVDs are being mastered with rogue macrovision code(or something similar). If you dont have AnyDVD, I suggest downloading DVD43 and trying to play the DVD with that running.

NOTE: Mods, I'm not quite sure what the stance is on mentioning programs such as AnyDVD and DVD43, so if this is not allowed, feel free to delete this and I wont mention it again. However, since the OP owns the DVD and is not trying to copy said DVD, I dont think there'll be an issue.

Just do a system restore to a previous restore point. You should be ok. If that doesnt work, then just force a Windows Update. It will re-install the missing driver.
