Hi friends, I am gonna buy a P-6861 JFX in Japan, but the it's original HDD is 5400 RPM, which might not be fast enough for hardcore gaming, so I wonder if it is possible to change the 5400RPM one to a 7200RPM one? How to do it?

It's for sure that the 7200RPM one will generate more heat, but would there be any problem after the change?

Thank you for your help guys! :) :)

You need the same, to raid them. Just put in 2 and enable RAID in the bios after reboot the RAID manager will ask which RAID type you will want to use. 0 for performance and 1 for data security.

if you buy 320Gb 5400rpm is faster than 160Gb 7200rpm cause data density is bigger on 320Gb HDD and that makes it to read/write faster even thought it has 7200Rpm

just get another same like the one u have and install as a raid
that is if you want, the 7200 will offer you little boost if any.

actually if the space offered by the original drive is enough, don't change it at all. get a better cpu instead :D

I agree, I have both types talked about here, and I left my P-6080fx as is, not much difference from my souped up P-171x fx in riad0 with 7200rpm hd's, don't get me wrong, my P-171x fx loads a little quicker, but on start up you have the raid information screen that adds time to the startup, I am happy with both.

the maximum is 2x 2.5" internal hdd.
i think that comes down to 1 tera ?

but since you can attach another one via the eSATA and dozens more through usb...

    i got a headache.
