    Hi--

I am trying to change my motherboard for my Gateway mx6440 laptop because my first one went out on me. I'd like to just buy this one off of the internet or a dealer. How do I find out what type of motherboard I need (model number, etc.)? Is the motherboard specific to the mx6440 or will the motherboard in, say, an mx6415 or another model work?

    Thanks for the help!

Laptop motherboards are highly specialized and therefore very expensive. You're almost better off selling it for parts on eBay and buying a new notebook. A used one on eBay if you can find one is probably the cheapest way to go.
