So, i bought a charger for my P7807u from ebay. The item was listed as a charger for the p7805. When i recieved it it didnt work so i emailed the seller back and asked him what the deal was. He said the chargers for the p7805 are not compatible with the p7807. Is this true? i thought the charger would be compatible for both the p7807 and p7805. Help?? thanks guys.

No the chargers have all been the same since the 6831... they use about 3 different types, but they are all compatible with all of the FX models.

He sold you a bum charger and is now blowing smoke trying to shift the blame to you

He looks like a pretty solid seller, but they should all be the same, since they are the same laptops with some different components hardware-wise.

    Your sure it doesnt work?

Because it clearly says those two models, and not the 7807, so im not sure if you can do anything.

Maybe try ebay again, but do make sure that it is meant for your laptop, the 7807, and not another FX or Gateway model.

And you could always try getting a replacement directly from Gateway, although not dealing with Gateway is usually the best option, because they are idiots :).

Don't waste time with this -

begin a PayPal Dispute session now.

The charger should work for your model FX.

If he keeps denying it and tries to fight the dispute, find a p7805 nearby to use the charger on. If it doesn't work on your p7807, it won't work on a p7805 either.

If you all take a look at the details of that item, it says "65Watts" which is impossible for a charger that is for Gateway FXs.

Did a little bit of googling for ppp014s which is the part # showing on the PS listed through the ebay link and all the sites I come across list it as a 90w PS, but for HP model laptops.
I wonder if there is not an issue with the tip not making full contact or proper contact with the FX DC jack.

Ah... lol i never did actually look at the charger in question

If its 65 watts then yeah theres no way it will be able to power any FX model. Even the 15in series had to have more than 65 watts. We require a 120 at minimum (150-180 seems to be better but 120 is the minimum)

Yea. I noticed that too. I would definitely dispute this out if you can.
